Hey lovebirds! If you’re dreaming of an elopement with jaw-dropping mountain views, zero crowds, and all the wild, romantic vibes, you are so in the right place.

Colorado is overflowing with iconic spots (hello, Dream Lake), but some of the most magical elopement locations never make it onto Pinterest or the top of Google—and honestly, that’s exactly why I love them.

As a Colorado elopement photographer who spends half my life barefoot in alpine meadows, chasing golden light through valleys, and dancing with couples in the rain… I know the hidden corners where you can say your vows in total peace.

So let’s ditch the crowds and dive into five of my favorite private, scenic, and wildly underrated elopement locations in Colorado.

COLUMBINE LAKE — SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS (SILVERTON)

If you want a location that feels like another planet, Columbine Lake is it. The hike is challenging but SO worth every step. When you reach that explosive blue water surrounded by rugged alpine peaks? It’s the kind of view that makes you forget to breathe.

This spot is perfect for:

– Couples who want something unforgettable

– Private sunrise vows

– Epic Colorado adventure elopements

Pro Tip: Pack camp mugs + a tiny bottle of champagne for a mountaintop toast. You will cry happy tears.

HIDDEN VALLEY — ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

Let everyone else rush to Dream or Emerald Lake — Hidden Valley is one of RMNP’s most underrated gems. Think lush forests, quiet paths, and glowing meadows that feel like your own private world.

Why I love it:

– Accessible for all hiking levels

– Stunning year-round

– Perfect for couples bringing a few guests

This spot gives you those classic Rocky Mountain vibes without fighting for space (or editing out thirty tourists in the background 😅).

BLUE LAKES TRAIL — TELLURIDE AREA

Blue Lakes is a full-on showstopper. With three tiers of lakes, insanely blue water, and dramatic mountain ridges, it’s basically a postcard come to life. If you’re dreaming of those immersive, huge-mountain-energy photos… this is your place.

Highlights:

– Multiple ceremony spots = privacy

– Mountain goat sightings (!!)

– Unreal golden hour glow

Photography Tip: This is one of the best spots in Colorado for glacial-blue water paired with warm sunset tones.

STATE FOREST STATE PARK — NORTH PARK (WALDEN AREA)

Yes, that’s really its name — and it’s criminally underrated. This entire park is quiet, wild, and insanely beautiful. Think alpine lakes, endless forests, open skies, and (if you’re lucky) moose wandering by.

Perfect for couples who want:

– A full weekend getaway

– A cozy cabin elopement

– Stargazing after the vows

If you want an elopement that feels like a mini-honeymoon adventure? This place is perfection.

CARIBOU RANCH OPEN SPACE — NEDERLAND / BOULDER AREA

If you want dreamy mountain views without the major hike, Caribou Ranch is calling your name. With forests, meadows, aspen groves, and old mining buildings, this spot gives you a ton of variety in a short walk.

Best season: Fall, fall, fall.

Golden aspens. Crisp air. Cozy flannels. Pure magic.

Bonus: You’re 10 minutes from Nederland and 30 from Boulder, so brunch afterward is absolutely happening
